I still haven't said anything to Jeff about his porn-a-thon. I probably will, at the right moment. Maybe if it comes up in conversation. I just want to ask him why he would sit there for 3 hours straight. I may ask him if it has anything to do with me, but I don't think it does. Right? RIGHT?

There's more drama going on at work. There's a position for manager's assistant that would be my boss' assistant and handle meetings he couldn't attend, red tape, whatever. This position was listed before while my boss was on vacation, and listed for another manager. This time they listed it at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon with a deadline of today at close of business. Seems shady to me. They did not tell my boss they'd listed it so he could tell members of his team to apply. He let us know yesterday, and those of us who have been managers (not me) are still scrambling to finish the arduous applications. We suspect that someone has a buddy they want to set up with a job. We do not want to end up with an outsider as our manager's assistant who knows nothing about the team or what we do. I'm also pissed that they seem to be trying to hide a chance of promotion from current employees when that's the only chance we have to get a raise any time soon. Add this to the fiascos last year (HR moving a guy from another team to ours with no consultation of anyone involved, and another sneaky job listing for a manager position and a friend of someone ending up getting hired), and we're all a little paranoid and suspicious.
