Oh gods, I had such a flashback today at work. I was clicking through the channels on Spinner.com internet radio and happened upon the metal channel. I still know all the words to Slayer's "Temptation". Freaky. I bet I still know all the words to "Money Talks" by Cryptic Slaughter. My friend Beth once tried to teach me that bass line. Speaking of Beth, she just moved back to GA, and I am happy to have her here. Not that I see her or talk to her that often, but I missed her while she lived in NC.

In high school, we were kind of an odd couple. She was the punk girl wearing the Misfits t-shirt, dyed-black mohawk (at one point), combat boots, and b&w striped stockings. I was the metal chick with the Metallica t-shirt, ripped jeans, and combat boots on (oh, and big hair). Hmm, common thread there. Anyway, she exposed me to The Cure, Primus and the Misfits (and the glory that is Glenn Danzig). I exposed her to Metallica, Slayer, and Iron Maiden. Anyway, I had a point... oh yeah. So lately, like in the past few years, I've felt very uncool compared to her. She's always got a party to go to, or is going to see some punk band at the Masquerade. I've been married almost 11 years and have to get up at 5am for work, so that kinda limits my partying. I do go to several live shows a year, and my friends and I try to have a party every month or so. Other than that, I'm a boring ol' married woman.

I've made a conscious effort in the past year to have a life other than work and home. I think my friends agree, hence the parties. We usually have a Halloween and christmas party every year. Then several times a year we have just get together parties. Some of them have a theme - the porn party (not what you may think), the slumber party (which I missed), and another one I missed. Halloween is always my favorite. I was thinking about my 2002 costume before Halloween 2001. I know, I'm a freak.
